Peanuts Celebration Specials - Chicken Parm Grilled Cheese

Image
Peanuts Celebration Specials - Chicken Parm Grilled Cheese I do enjoy Chicken Parmesan, so I ordered the Chicken Parm Grilled Cheese from Sutter's Grill . The sandwich was exactly as advertised, a Chicken Parmesan and grilled cheese sandwich combo. I usually avoid grilled cheese sandwiches, so my verdict on this entrĂ©e is mixed. The flavor was good, but it was a bit too greasy for me. But I don't believe it was greasier than any other grilled cheese sandwiches. The sandwich came with a copious amount of french fries lightly sprinkled with seasoned salt. Chicken Parm Grilled Cheese Sandwich

Peanuts Celebration Specials - Shermy's Smoked Meat Sandwich

Image
Peanuts Celebration Specials - Shermy's Smoked Meat Sandwich I was really looking forward to  Shermy's Smoked Meat Sandwich at the Boardwalk BBQ , but I was disappointed.  The sandwich was HUGE! The marbled rye bread was good, and there were more potato wedges than I could eat, but the pastrami on this sandwich was too fatty for my taste. Peanuts Celebration Specials - Fun Guy Charlie Pizza

Image
Fun Guy Charlie Pizza Knott's does a good job with their pizzas, so I tried the Fun Guy Charlie Pizza at Sutter's Pizza . It was as advertised,  with chimichurri, mushrooms, arugula, and char tip. When I ordered it, I didn't realize that there was the chimichurri sauce, which added a bit of a spicy kick. It wasn't hot-Hot-HOT, but those with a sensitivity to spicy foods might avoid this one. For me, it was definitely worth trying.   The meal plan includes the standard Knott's side salad, which I decided to empty onto my pizza plate. I was surprised at how much salad they can fit into those little plastic containers.

Grizzly Creek Lodge - Seated ambience

Image
Another upstairs view Upstairs patio view Located in the heart of Camp Snoopy, the Grizzly Creek Lodge has two levels of seating. Seating on the lower level is mostly indoors, one of the few eateries at Knott's with indoor seating. The upper level seating is mostly outdoors on patios. The decor is all faux wood. There is a mixture of seating: picnic tables, low tables for four, and higher tables for four with bar stool type seating.  The Grizzly Creek Lodge is very popular with kids and their parents.  During the summer season, the wait was always 30 minutes or more.  That's why I waited until school resumed to visit there. Downstairs inside seating  The Lodge has some very pleasant views upstairs, but one needs to be prepared to carry a tray of food and drinks up a flight of stairs - I didn't see an elevator. This may be challenging for drinks without lids. As for the food itself,  the Grizzly Creek Lodge tries to satisfy all its Camp Snoopy youngste...

Coasters Drive-In (diner)

Image
Coasters Drive-In Modeled after a 50s diner, Coasters Drive-In , with burgers, fries, and shakes, gets very busy at lunch time. There are also chicken tenders and a salmon orzo salad for those who avoid fried food. Look out for seasonal specialty milkshakes. There is currently a boysenberry shake. A specialty burger is the Xcelerator, , a 12-inch patty packed high with bacon, cheese, and fries! The Sidewinder is a smaller version of the Xcelerator. Other menu items include not dogs and an "Ode to Cordelia - Donut Chicken". The latter is exactly that - a chicken sandwich made with two donut halves. Coasters has a condiment bar. The available condiments are: ketchup, mustard, BBQ sauce, and mayo.  Available veggies: lettuce, tomato, onions, pickles, and sliced pepperoncinis.  For seating, there are ten or so indoor booths, and quite a few outdoor tables. Most of the tables have shades. Coasters is quite popular. At times there can be quite a wait for your meal or an availab...

Wagon Wheel Pizza - for real this time

Image
Wagon Wheel pizza & salad My first entry mentioned Wagon Wheel Pizza, but I really had no idea if I was at Wagon Wheel Pizza or Sutter's Pizza . Those two, along with Hollywood Hits , are the three Knott's pizza restaurants which are open on weekends and seasonally. They have similar menus, selling pizza by the slice, in a combo with salad, and also whole pies - good for families and groups.  Toppings may vary at different locations. Wagon Wheel Pizza is at the end of a cul-de-sac that the shares with Ghost Rider , the Ghost Town Bakery , and Spurs Chop House. Since this area is a cul-de-sac and Spurs is only used for special events, there is often plenty of seating available.  I found this a good place to go for a peaceful meal away from the heaviest park crowds.

Ghost Town Grill - Table service in Ghost Town

Image
Ghost Town Grill is the only restaurant inside the park that has table service. The prices aren't bad, and the comfortable seats and air conditioning are welcome on a hot day. Indoor and outdoor seating is available. I found the web site description to be accurate.  " Enjoy soup and chili served in a bread bowl, hearty sandwiches, fresh salads, and daily chef specials, as well as beer and wine. There’s something for everyone, including a special kid’s meal menu. And don’t forget about the dessert – boysenberry pie, cake, and ice cream are just some of the sweet treats waiting for you. The Sarsaparilla float alone is something you won’t find anywhere else in the park! Gluten-free, vegetarian, and vegan options are available upon request. " Ghost Town Grill is not on the meal plan, so be prepared.  I enjoyed the Ghost Town Grill, and will return, but I ordered the wrong item. I chose the Tri-Tip Slider Trio. I expected the meat to diced or tender so that the sliders could ...
