Hollywood Hits Pizza

Image
On a recent Knott's outing, the lunch lines were so long that my choice was determined by shorter lines. I wound up at Hollywood Hits Pizza. There's nothing wrong with Hollywood Hits, but I wanted something else because I'd had pizza the night before at home. I chose the Carne Asada pizza with salad, hoping that it would be sufficiently different that the pepperoni pie I'd had at home.  I wasn't sure what I was in for...  I was pleasantly surprised - my Carne Asada slice came with BBQ sauce for a unique flavor. From the menu you can see that there are some vegetarian options available. I'll have to get a better photo of the menu with less glare. I also need to get some photos of the seating area. Tables are divided into a sunny area and a shaded area. All the Knott's pizza stands seem to have the same basic options: Slice & side salad - $14 Whole Pizza          - $35 Slice                    ...

Unsweetened Iced Tea

Image
Unsweetened iced tea is a great zero-calorie thirst quencher. Not every drink station at Knott's has it, unfortunately.  I'm not a fan of the flavored pre-sweetened stuff. I've learned that it's important to look at every dispenser if multiple ones are available. The drink station by Knott's Bear-y Tales is one example. There are three dispensers. Currently, only one has unsweetened iced tea. Below are some locations that I've confirmed have unsweetened iced tea. There may be more. Sutter's Corner (Many establishments have Sutter's in their names.)  Drink station by Knott's Bear-y Tales  Wilderness Broiler drink station By the way, I also discovered a convenient handwashing station just across from the Boardwalk Pier.

A surprise at the Wilderness Broiler! Followed by dessert from the Ghost Town Bakery

Image
I learned that the Wilderness Broiler has limited-time offerings throughout the year! These fan favorites rotate every two weeks. These "Taste of Knott's" offerings are worth seeking out. Tonight I tried the Portobello Mushroom sandwich platter, which was a winner. I didn't feel over-stuffed and bloated so I stopped at the Ghost Town Bakery for dessert. Lots of coconut! The bakery has many other treats, including apple and boysenberry pies, whole or by the slice, brownies, a variety of cookies, and more. Get coffee there too!

4th of July - Boardwalk BBQ, Wilderness Broiler, and ice cream!

Image
Boardwalk BBQ menu  On July 4th I tried the pulled pork sandwich at the Boardwalk BBQ . I chose Carolina BBQ sauce, expecting North Carolina style .  I was surprised to get what I later learned was South Carolina  style with a sweet mustard flavor. Not terrible, but I'll try something more standard later. The pulled pork itself was of good quality, without excess fat. The inside area has two separate lines one for main entrees & drinks, and another only for drinks and desserts.  There is ample outside seating, along with a small stage for entertainment.  The video shows a view of the outside seating area. Later I got some ice cream from a cart near Charleston Circle. Good quality ice cream, not ice milk or soft-serve. And there was a discount for Knott's passholders! Supper was at the Wilderness Broiler , where there was a limited-time offering of Mrs. Knott's Fried Chicken. The chicken and mashed potatoes were good; the accompanying corn was too salty for m...

Fireman's Brigade BBQ, Ghost Town Grub, and Charleston Circle Coffee pass-thru

Some friends and I arrived at park opening, and headed straight for Bear-y Tales. We wandered past Charleston Circle Coffee to check the menu.  It wasn't open yet.  I think that's one of the few places in the park where you can get a boysenberry pie. The pies weren't full-size, but still too large for one person. Lunch was at the Fireman's Brigade BBQ , which is shaping up to be my favorite on the dining plan. I tried the Sausage Sandwich & grilled corn-on-the-cob for the first time.  The sandwich was okay, nothing remarkable. Some of the grilled corn was over-charred, but my ear was all right. Kudos to Knott's for providing easily spreadable whipped butter. Friends ordered ribs & baked potato, which looked appetizing. In the afternoon, I stopped off for a soda at the Ghost Town Grub beverage station. Pros:  lids supplied Cons:  no unsweetened iced tea The funnel cakes at Ghost Town Grub look good, but they're definitely family size.

May 2021 - Wagon Wheel Pizza ... I hope

Hello! This was my first visit to Knott's Berry Farm in 15 years. I spent a good amount of time semi-lost and looking for my friends. LOL!  I had no idea what to have for lunch. I wound up at Wagon Wheel Pizza , where I had a pepperoni slice, salad, and soda for ~$17.00. My opinion, the food was acceptible, but not noteworthy.  I was hungry and finished feeling satisfied. I hope this was Wagon Wheel, and not Sutter's .  Remember, I said I was often lost.

The beginning...

My friends decided to get Knott's Berry Farm Annual Passes, so I got one too. The Knott's Web site lists 29 eateries inside the park, not including spots outside the park in the Knott's Marketplace. How do I answer, "What/Where do you want to eat for lunch or dinner?" I have no idea. I haven't been to Knott's in 15 years. Armed with a Dining Plan, I decided to try many different restaurants and record my experiences here.
