Unsweetened Iced Tea

Unsweetened iced tea is a great zero-calorie thirst quencher. Not every drink station at Knott's has it, unfortunately.  I'm not a fan of the flavored pre-sweetened stuff. I've learned that it's important to look at every dispenser if multiple ones are available. The drink station by Knott's Bear-y Tales is one example. There are three dispensers. Currently, only one has unsweetened iced tea.

Below are some locations that I've confirmed have unsweetened iced tea. There may be more.

  • Sutter's Corner (Many establishments have Sutter's in their names.) 
  • Drink station by Knott's Bear-y Tales 
  • Wilderness Broiler drink station



    By the way, I also discovered a convenient handwashing station just across from the Boardwalk Pier.

4th of July - Boardwalk BBQ, Wilderness Broiler, and ice cream!

Boardwalk BBQ menu  On July 4th I tried the pulled pork sandwich at the Boardwalk BBQ . I chose Carolina BBQ sauce, expecting North Carolina style .  I was surprised to get what I later learned was South Carolina  style with a sweet mustard flavor. Not terrible, but I'll try something more standard later. The pulled pork itself was of good quality, without excess fat. The inside area has two separate lines one for main entrees & drinks, and another only for drinks and desserts.  There is ample outside seating, along with a small stage for entertainment.  The video shows a view of the outside seating area. Later I got some ice cream from a cart near Charleston Circle. Good quality ice cream, not ice milk or soft-serve. And there was a discount for Knott's passholders! Wagon Wheel Pizza - for real this time

  Wagon Wheel pizza & salad My first entry mentioned Wagon Wheel Pizza, but I really had no idea if I was at Wagon Wheel Pizza or Sutter's Pizza . Those two, along with Hollywood Hits , are the three Knott's pizza restaurants which are open on weekends and seasonally. They have similar menus, selling pizza by the slice, in a combo with salad, and also whole pies - good for families and groups.  Toppings may vary at different locations. Wagon Wheel Pizza is at the end of a cul-de-sac that the shares with Ghost Rider , the Ghost Town Bakery , and Spurs Chop House. Since this area is a cul-de-sac and Spurs is only used for special events, there is often plenty of seating available.  I found this a good place to go for a peaceful meal away from the heaviest park crowds.

Coasters Drive-In (diner)

Coasters Drive-In Modeled after a 50s diner, Coasters Drive-In , with burgers, fries, and shakes, gets very busy at lunch time. There are also chicken tenders and a salmon orzo salad for those who avoid fried food. Look out for seasonal specialty milkshakes. There is currently a boysenberry shake. A specialty burger is the Xcelerator, , a 12-inch patty packed high with bacon, cheese, and fries! The Sidewinder is a smaller version of the Xcelerator. Other menu items include not dogs and an "Ode to Cordelia - Donut Chicken". The latter is exactly that - a chicken sandwich made with two donut halves. Coasters has a condiment bar. The available condiments are: ketchup, mustard, BBQ sauce, and mayo.  Available veggies: lettuce, tomato, onions, pickles, and sliced pepperoncinis.  For seating, there are ten or so indoor booths, and quite a few outdoor tables.
